ZZ Plant 'Zamioculcas Zamiifolia'
The ZZ Plant is the definition of a survivor — glossy, sculptural, and virtually indestructible. Native to the dry forests of East Africa, it’s built to handle neglect, low light, and the general chaos of everyday life. Whether it’s in a bright hallway or the darkest corner of your home, the ZZ just gets on with it and looks good doing it.
Its thick rhizomes (those potato-like roots hiding under the soil) store water, meaning it can go weeks without a drink and still stay lush and shiny. If you want a plant that thrives with minimal effort, this is the one.
Plant Care
Light: Thrives in bright, indirect light but tolerates low light exceptionally well.
Watering: Let the soil dry out completely between waterings. Overwatering is the only real way to kill it.
Temperature: Happy between 15–26°C. Keep away from cold draughts.
Humidity: Standard home humidity is perfect — no misting needed.
Feed: A light feed every 4–6 weeks in spring and summer is plenty.
Good to Know
Air Purifying: Excellent for removing toxins and freshening up indoor air.
Low Maintenance: Perfect for beginners or busy plant parents.
Toxicity: Toxic if ingested — keep away from pets and small humans.
Also Known As: Zanzibar Gem, Eternity Plant.
Origin: Native to Eastern Africa (Kenya, Tanzania, Zanzibar).
