Euphorbia lactea ‘Cristata’ (Coral Cactus) 🌵✨

One of the most unusual plants you’ll come across. Euphorbia lactea ‘Cristata’, often called the Coral Cactus, is all about that wild, fan-shaped crest that looks more like ocean coral than a houseplant. It’s bold, sculptural, and guaranteed to get people asking “what is that?”

Usually grafted onto a sturdy base, this is a true statement piece — minimal effort, maximum impact.

Plant Care
  • Light: Prefers bright, indirect light. Can handle some gentle direct sun but avoid harsh midday rays.
  • Watering: Allow the soil to dry out completely between waterings. Water sparingly, especially in winter.
  • Temperature: Thrives in warm conditions (18–28°C). Keep away from cold and frost.
  • Humidity: Not fussy — normal household humidity is perfect.
  • Feed: Use a cactus/succulent feed monthly during spring and summer.
Good to Know
  • Structure: A crested Euphorbia grafted onto a rootstock — that’s what gives it its unique shape.
  • Look: Coral-like, wavy growth — no two plants are ever the same.
  • Sap Warning: Produces a milky sap that can irritate skin and is toxic if ingested — handle with care.
  • Also Known As: Coral Cactus
  • Origin: Derived from Euphorbia species native to tropical Asia

Pot 11cm x 25cm

Not for Pets or Kids

Beautiful but with a dark side. The leaves and/or other parts of this plant can be toxic. Keep away from pets, children and adults who never grew up.

Not a Diva

Nothing special on this leafy star's rider. Happy just to get on with life and do it's thing, like an old friend just hangin' out.

Bright, Indirect Light

Loves being in the spotlight. Thrives on attention. Just not direct sunlight, that’s where it draws the line. We’re glowing, not grilling.

How not to kill your Euphorbia Lactea Cristata

We've created a personalised Grow Guide for your Euphorbia Lactea Cristata. Just follow this easy guide and you & your new leafy mate will be loving life together!

Light: Direct

I love the light! A big ol' dose of bright, sunlight each day is my idea of heaven. I'm even up for some direct rays, just as long as it's not a scorcher. That said, I'm pretty adaptable. If light or dappled shade is all you've got, I won't complain.

Watering: Moderate

I'm a Moderate Molly! Not one for necking my drinks and shouting out for more, I'm much more about nursing mine and savouring every last drop. A gentle top-up once a week should be just fine for me, thanks.

Humidity: Normal

Atmospherics? I'm really not that bothered, actually. Just your everyday household humidity is fine. No extra attention required, thanks, so don't be comin' at me with that spritzer!

Top tips from our Agony Plant.

Treat it like a all cactus, bright spot, light watering, and don’t overthink it. The only real danger here is too much love (aka overwatering).
