Alocasia gageana 🌿

A bold member of the Araceae family, Alocasia gageana is prized for its thick, sturdy stems and dramatic, upward-pointing foliage. Mature plants can produce striking, heart-shaped leaves with undulating edges that reach up to 60cm across, giving this variety an architectural, statement-making presence.

Native to the Kachin Hills of northern Myanmar, this plant brings a true tropical feel indoors and thrives as a feature in larger spaces.

Plant Care

  • Light: Prefers bright, indirect light. Protect from harsh direct sun which can scorch the leaves.
  • Watering: Keep soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Water when the top layer of soil starts to dry.
  • Temperature: Enjoys warmth — ideally between 18–25°C. Avoid cold drafts.
  • Humidity: Loves higher humidity levels. Mist regularly or use a pebble tray/humidifier.
  • Feed: Apply a balanced fertiliser every 2–4 weeks during the growing season.
