A proper little show-off, without being too demanding.
The Maranta Lemon, commonly known as a Prayer Plant, is loved for its beautifully patterned foliage — deep green leaves marked with fresh lime-green detailing running through the centre and veins. Even better, its leaves naturally move throughout the day, lifting and folding upwards in the evening as if they’re praying. Hence the name — clever wee thing.
Compact, colourful and full of personality, it’s perfect for shelves, side tables or anywhere that could do with a bit more green.
Plant Care
- Light: Bright, indirect light is best. It will tolerate lower light, but avoid direct sunshine which can scorch or fade the leaves.
- Watering: Keep the soil lightly and consistently moist, allowing the very top to dry slightly between drinks. Avoid letting it sit in water.
- Temperature: Likes it warm — ideally around 18–27°C. Keep away from cold draughts.
- Humidity: Loves humidity and will appreciate a bathroom, kitchen or naturally humid spot.
- Feed: Feed lightly every 4–6 weeks during spring and summer with a diluted houseplant fertiliser.
