Monstera deliciosa (Swiss Cheese Plant) 🧀🌿

An all-time classic, the Monstera deliciosa is instantly recognisable by its large, heart-shaped leaves full of natural holes — hence the nickname, “Swiss Cheese Plant.” In the wild, these perforations help sunlight filter down to the lower foliage, giving the plant its signature jungle look.

A retro favourite since the 1950s, this climber is low-maintenance, fast-growing, and more than capable of filling an empty corner with lush, architectural greenery.

Good To Know

Not for Pets or Kids

Beautiful but with a dark side. The leaves and/or other parts of this plant can be toxic. Keep away from pets, children and adults who never grew up.

Air Purifying

These plants help create a fresher and healthier environment by filtering out airborne toxins, and converting them to oxygen. Bonus!

Not a Diva

Nothing special on this leafy star's rider. Happy just to get on with life and do it's thing, like an old friend just hangin' out.

Getting The Best From Your Monstera Deliciosa 'Swiss Cheese Plant'

Watering: Moderate

I'm a Moderate Molly! Not one for necking my drinks and shouting out for more, I'm much more about nursing mine and savouring every last drop. A gentle top-up once a week should be just fine for me, thanks.

Humidity: High

Ooh, I love a bit of atmosphere! That's why you'd always find me in the bathroom at parties ;-) I think my favourite karaoke song would be 'Spritz Me Baby, One More Time' or maybe 'Come Up and Spritz Me (Make Me Smile)'. I'm sure you get the gist.

Light: Easy Going

I'm pretty flexible, actually. Generally I'd rather be in a bright spot, with plenty of indirect light. But if all you've got is a moderately shady corner, that's no biggie I'll happily adapt with perhaps a bit less watering. Just keep me out of any harsh, direct sun and we'll get on just fine.
