Quirky Wedding Fair - 24th Feb

Updated: Mar 14, 2020

So on Sunday we attended our first ever wedding fair at the Waterfront Hall, Belfast!! The lovely team at Quirky Weddings, contacted us a few weeks back to let us know they had a space free for a local florist and invited us along to their event.

After weeks of throwing idea's back and forth about what design we would create for the fair at the final hour (and we mean final hour, just a week before the event!) Nigel sketched out an idea he had dreamed up, for anyone who know's us and our style of work, you will know we commit to original designs, after all, who want's to go to a Quirky wedding fair to see a few not so quirky bouquets on a stand?

Nigel's original sketch

Nigel's idea was inspired by the transition from winter to spring, given the massive variety of bold. colourful flowers in season, a spring meadow was on the cards with colour inspiration from a packet of dolly mixtures! We were also so in love with the cake stand we designed for our own wedding back in September, we got in touch with our favourite Belfast baker John from The Sugar Room to create 3 unique cake's which to sit on the tree stumps which just appear out of the meadow

With John on board and a brief to work to, Glynis aka Mummy Memento got on the ball ordering us quite possible thee most beautiful, freshest and fragrant flowers available. Our meadow canopy was built with a moss base with a mixture of white and dusky pink gypsophilia, delphinium & craspedia for height along with ranunculus, waxflower, muscari, asparagus ferns and a gorgeous mix of sweetly scent roses to give colour and texture throughout!

The base of the meadow was adorned with a mix of Verona, flashpoint and the most stunning ballroom feathered tulip's, to give the illusion of root's hanging from the base, we think the effect worked well, wouldn't you agree?

If only you could smell these flowers!

Gimme cake, cake and more cake!!!!

The Sugar Room is a Belfast based bakery and creates breathtaking couture cakes and cupcakes for every occasion. John's creations took pride of place in the centre of our display and we can tell you from experience his cakes taste every bit as good as they look!

We loved having the chance to meet with some amazing businesses on the day!! It was great to finally put a face to some of the companies we follow on social media! A big shout out to Elody Bride, Innocent Chaos, French Village, Arbee Cards to name a few, if your planning your special day and are looking for some cool local businesses to help make it perfect then check out the full exhibitor list here

A massive thank you to Cate, Elaine and the team at Quirky wedding's for making our day as stress free as possible, everything about the day was organised perfectly - we're already super excited to work with them at their next event!

Finally, thank you to each and every person who popped by our stand on the day, your lovely feedback and kind words made it an extra special day for us!
